MANILA, Philippines — Two low pressure areas (LPAs) are currently being monitored inside Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). Their chances of developing into tropical depressions are slim, the state weather bureau said. These conditions are the LPA that formed west of Coron, Palawan on Thursday morning and the LPA that entered PAR on Wednesday. The LPA that developed on Thursday was last spotted 860 kilometers (km.) east of eastern Visayas. “Kaninang alas-dos ng madaling araw ay mayroong nabuong LPA dito naman sa may kanluran ng Palawan,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Patrick del Mundo. (At two o’clock in the morning, an LPA formed here west of Palawan.) “[Ito’y] huling namataan sa layong 135 km. sa may kanluran ng Coron, Palawan,” he noted. (It was last observed at a distance of 135 km. west of Coron, Palawan.) “Ito’y magpapa-ulan sa maghapon sa ilang bahagi ng Mimaropa, southern Luzon, at gayon din sa ilang bahagi ng Visayas,” he added. (It will bring rain throughout the day in some parts of Mimaropa, southern Luzon, and also in some parts of Visayas.) The LPA is predicted to exit PAR over the weekend. Meanwhile, the LPA that entered PAR on Wednesday is expected to be slowly pulled away from the country’s landmass by Super Typhoon Bolaven. The super typhoon is recurving toward southern Japan Sea within the next few hours. “Possible ito na sumama dito sa may trough ng bagyo sa labas ng ating PAR [ST Bolaven],” said del Mundo. (It is possible to be pulled by the trough of ST Bolaven outside our PAR.) Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said. Residents living in low-lying and mountainous areas are warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. No gale warning alert is raised in any part of the archipelago’s seaboard.
