Chinese EV maker BYD looks to ‘stabilise’ itself in India, aims to cover 90% market in INR 30 lakh plus this year
BYD, which entered the Indian passenger vehicle market in 2021, has introduced the Seal premium sedan, which was first showcased in the country at the Auto Expo last year. The Chinese EV maker currently offers two products in its India portfolio- Atto3 SUV and e6 MPV- which are imported and assembled at its plant in Chennai. “We now have an MPV, a SUV and a sports sedan in our portfolio. Catering to different segments, we will stabilize ourselves with the new product,” Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India said. The goal is to be a leader in a niche segment of vehicles priced over INR 30 lakh category.
