MANILA, Philippines — The Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer (CSE-FSO) will be held on January 28, 2024, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said. According to CSC, the exam will be conducted in 18 testing centers nationwide: Bacolod City Baguio City Cagayan de Oro City Calasiao in Pangasinan Cebu City Davao City Iloilo City General Santos City Legazpi City Lipa City Lucena City Metro Manila San Fernando City in La Union San Fernando City in Pampanga Puerto Princesa City Tacloban City Tuguegarao City Zamboanga City CSC said that interested applicants have until October 20 to submit their application at any Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Offices, Philippine embassies, consulates, or missions overseas, or the Board of Foreign Service Examinations (BFSE) Secretariat located at the DFA Main Office in Pasay City. The commission also noted that a non-refundable fee of P500 must be paid once the application form and supporting documents are inspected and accepted by the DFA office. The CSE-FSO is the first stage of the five-part FSO examination administered jointly by the CSC and DFA-BFSE. “Its purpose is to identify potential candidates for the role of Foreign Service Officer, Class IV, and assess their competencies across four key areas such as verbal ability, analytical aptitude, numerical skills, and managerial capabilities,” said CSC in a news article posted on its website on Tuesday. To qualify for the succeeding parts of the exam, applicants must achieve a minimum score of 80.00 in the CSE-FSO. CSC said that the passers of CSE-FSO will be conferred with Career FSO Eligibility, which will allow them to apply for first-level (clerical) and second-level (technical) government positions that do not require professional practice and are exempt from board and bar examinations as well as other regulatory requirements. The subsequent examinations include a preliminary interview, written test, psychological assessment, and oral examination, said CSC.
