MANILA, Philippines — The weekly recorded infections of COVID-19 slightly decreased to 1,146 from Oct. 16 to 22, said the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday. Based on the DOH’s latest weekly tally, the infections translated to a daily average of 164, 8 percent lower than the 179 average cases recorded from Oct. 9 to 15, or where 1,252 cases were recorded. The DOH said there are currently 231 patients suffering from critical or severe cases of COVID-19, 20 of whom were admitted between October 16 and 22. On the other hand, nine deaths were recorded by the DOH, all of which were recorded in the past two weeks. Based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker as of Oct. 23, total deaths currently sit at 66,723. Meanwhile, utilization of ICU beds dropped from 12.9 percent to 11.8 percent in the previous week, while the non-ICU bed utilization rate remained at 16.9 percent.
