MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already served the subpoena to Jeffrey Tumbado, the whistleblower on the alleged corruption in the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) who later recanted his allegations. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Tumbado has already received the subpoena. “NBI has confirmed that they have served the subpoena to Mr. Tumbado and the same was duly received,” Justice Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Jose Dominic Clavano told reporters on Saturday. “He is set to appear before the NBI at 10 o’clock in the morning on Monday, October 16, to present evidence to support the allegation of corruption in the LTFRB,” he added. According to Clavano, the subpoena requires Tumbado to be present and appear before the NBI, as failure to do so may be penalized under the law. Tumbado was the former executive assistant of suspended LTFRB chairman Teofilo Guadiz III. On Monday, he tagged Guadiz in the alleged anomalies in the regulatory board. On Friday, the DOJ said the NBI failed to deliver the subpoena due to the wrong address Tumbado indicated in his affidavit. RELATED STORIES Wrong address?
