The low pressure area (LPA) east of Visayas entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). In its 5 p.m. weather forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said that the LPA was last located 840 kilometers east of Visayas. It had a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone but its trough or extension may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Bicol Region, southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. It may also move away from the PAR and become an extension of typhoon “Bolaven,” which is 2,280 km east of northern Luzon, added Estareja. Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the enhanced southwest monsoon or ‘habagat.’ —ABBY BOISER Read more at: inquirer
