MANILA, Philippines — The rains in many parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, on Saturday are due to the shear line and northeast monsoon, the state weather bureau reported. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shear line brings cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon). On the other hand, Pagasa said that Northern Luzon is affected by the northeast monsoon. It brings light rains in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley. “Kasalukuyan, nakararanas po tayo ng mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon, kasama ang Metro Manila, dulot ng northeast monsoon at shear line,” weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported in their morning weather forecast. (Currently, we are experiencing scattered rains in a large portion of Luzon, including Metro Manila, due to the northeast monsoon and the shear line.) Meanwhile, the weather bureau noted that state meteorologists are not seeing any low-pressure area nor tropical depression within the Philippine area of responsibility, especially in the Pacific Ocean. Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over the country’s seaboards, but it advised sailors in Northern Luzon to take precautionary measures since moderate to rough seas are expected in the area. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate seas, Aurelio said. RELATED STORIES Ready for the chill?
