MANILA, Philippines — A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck Calaca town in Batangas province on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivocls) said. In an initial bulletin, the agency reported that the temblor hit at 8:24 a.m. as its epicenter was traced five kilometers southwest of Calaca. The quake was of tectonic origin with a 14-kilometer depth of focus. Phivolcs said it recorded various instrumental intensities in the following areas: Instrumental Intensity V – Lemery, Batangas Instrumental Intensity IV – Ibajay, Aklan; Cuenca, Bauan, Sta.
