MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has no plans to declare October 31, 2023 (Tuesday) a holiday. Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said this in a message to reporters on Tuesday. She said the Office of the Executive Secretary does not intend to declare a holiday on this date. In 2022, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had declared October 31 a special, non-working holiday. Last year, October 31 fell on a Monday, creating a long weekend. Garafil had said the move to declare October 31 a holiday last year was to allow families time together. She had also said it was meant to promote local tourism.
