2 drug traffickers yield P737,000 worth of shabu in Lucena City busts


LUCENA CITY — Police anti-narcotics operatives on Friday and Saturday (October 13 and 14), arrested two drug suspects and seized more than P737,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) in this capital city of Quezon province. Local drug enforcers arrested a female, alias “Cha,” 35, at 7:56 p.m. after she sold P10,000 worth of meth to an undercover cop in Barangay (village) Mayao Crossing, said Lieutenant Colonel Ruben Ballera Jr., Lucena police chief, in a report Saturday. The suspect, classified as a “high-value” target in the government’s drug, yielded three plastic sachets of shabu weighing 32.53 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P221,204. The confiscated illegal substance is worth P663,612 in the street market at the prevailing price of P20,400 per gram, the report said. Members of the same police team also held alias “Allan,” 29, around 12:40 a.m. Saturday in another sting operation in Barangay Market View. The suspect, included on the police drug watch list, was caught with four sachets of meth with a street value of P73,440. The police are conducting further investigations to determine the source of the illegal drugs. The suspects were detained at the city police jail and are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
