Delhi tops road fatalities among million-plus cities


Delhi had the highest number of deaths due to accidents among cities with a population of over a million last year, according to a report by the Union road transport and highways ministry. The total number of road accidents in the city was 18% higher than in the previous year. Experts emphasized the need to fix accountability and analyze the causes of the rising accidents. Factors such as road condition, human error, and vehicle condition were identified as the main causes, including speeding, drunk driving, and using mobile phones while driving. The lack of police presence was also noted as a contributing factor.
