Development of autonomous cars is steadily progressing with AI as an accelerator, says Sven Lanwer, XC expert from Bosch


Cars with or without a driver are related to individual preference and geographical variations. Some may enjoy driving always; others may want to be in self-driven cars. However, for autonomous cars the development should be incremental, say beginning with the ADAS features or Level 2 or 3. In the making of autonomous cars thousands of use cases have to be programmed into. Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has a big role to play in this area. It will be an accelerator, though its full potential is yet to be understood. The market for ADAS is picking up in India. A few models are already on the road. Bosch has a large team in India working on this, both for the domestic and world markets, Sven Lanwer, XC expert and head of the Driver Experience, Bosch, told ET Auto on the side lines of Bosch Connected World in Berlin recently.
