MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit Calbiga, Samar on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. The quake occurred at 12:57 p.m. and was tectonic in origin. It has a depth of focus of 77 kilometers. The epicenter was traced east of Calbiga.
